Saudi Finance Minister Outlines Saudi Priorities at IsDB Meeting

Algiers: Minister of Finance and Saudi Arabia’s Governor at the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, Mohammed Aljadaan, led the Kingdom’s delegation to the IsDB Group’s Annual Meetings held in Algiers.

The meetings, conducted under the theme “Diversifying Economies, Enriching Lives,” focused on promoting economic transformation and enhancing living standards across IsDB member countries, according to a statement from the Ministry of Finance.

During the general session of the IsDB Board of Governors, Aljadaan presented the group’s strategic framework for 2026–2035, describing it as a foundational roadmap guiding institutional performance over the next decade.

He emphasized the importance of establishing clear and practical mechanisms to measure development impact, highlighting that an integrated system of indicators will ensure transparency, accountability, and effective monitoring of implementation plans.

In a Governors Roundtable Meeting titled “Bridging the Gap: Multilateralism, Changing Trade Dynamics, and the Future of Development Finance,” Aljadaan underscored the IsDB’s pivotal role in driving economic growth, regional integration, and fostering intra-trade and joint investment among member states.

He called for enhanced synergy and coordination among IsDB-affiliated institutions and urged support for structural reforms to secure fiscal sustainability and economic stability in the medium and long term.

Additionally, he stressed the need to reinforce trust in multilateral institutions through improved efficiency and inclusivity.

Aljadaan also participated in the High-Level Roundtable to operationalize the Riyadh Global Drought Resilience Partnership (RGDRP), highlighting the urgent necessity to address the impact of drought, especially in vulnerable regions such as Africa and the Middle East.

He noted that drought has evolved from a seasonal anomaly into a structural threat affecting 1.84 billion people worldwide, with nearly 5% facing extreme conditions.

Through the RGDRP, Saudi Arabia reaffirms its Vision 2030 commitment to protecting people, restoring ecosystems, and fostering shared prosperity.

The IsDB Group’s Annual Meetings provide a platform for international leaders, policymakers, and development experts to collaborate on advancing sustainable development, sharing knowledge, and addressing global economic challenges.
